First Approaches to Multimedia Enhanced Physics Lectures at University Level

by Prof.Dr.Hansjörg Jodl

Physics Department, University of Kaiserslautern, Germany

In the past, people were storing or transmitting lectures for off-campus students. Meanwhile some people tried to realize multimedia lectures on CD or web-based: e. g. elementary particles, solid state physics, introductory physics, special relativity.

After a short description of status quo, we should discuss the different approaches (video lecturing, multimedia textbook for the lecture, manuscript of a lecture on CD etc.), the advantages/disadvantages, the acceptance, criteria of "good" lectures, the application in teaching for on-campus/off-campus students, information flux about hitherto unknown projects.
